HCA 255 TOPIC 4 DQ 1 (Three Responses)

Compliance with health care policies protects patients, staff, and the public. Provide one example of a health policy that protects patients as well as other stakeholders, and identify the agency that enforces the policy.  Is enforcement fully funded? Why or why not?

Answer:

One example of a health policy that protects patients, staff, and the public is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Universal Precautions. This policy ensures that everyone who comes into contact with blood or bodily fluids are protected from getting a disease.

The CDC enforces this policy by providing guidelines on how to clean up after an emergency or accident to ensure that no one gets infected with an illness. They also provide training for staff in order to make sure they are aware of what needs to be done if there is an accident involving blood or bodily fluids.

While this policy does protect patients, staff and the public, it is not fully funded because it requires more funding than what was provided in order to enforce it properly.
