HCA 620 Week 7 Discussion 2

Read “How to Write a Business Plan,” by Guglielmo. The author provides some advice concerning the management team. What advice would you give to a recent medical school graduate who is seeking to open a medical practice.

Answer:

I would tell a recent medical school graduate who is seeking to open a medical practice that they need to find a management team that has experience in all areas of running a business, as they will be responsible for every aspect of the company. A good management team will have people with experience in accounting, marketing, and HR. They should also be able to work well together and have complementary skill sets—for example, someone who is great at sales but not so great at the legal side of things might be paired up with an attorney who can help them navigate any tricky legal issues that arise.

I would also tell them to seek out advice from other professionals who are successful in their field. Perhaps they could talk with doctors who have been in practice for many years about what worked for them when they first began their careers?
