HCA 699 Topic 2 DQ 1

What strategies will you use in your new role in health care to review and critique literature pertinent to your practice?

Answer:

I will use the following strategies in my new role in health care to review and critique literature pertinent to my practice:

1. I will review journals such as Nursing Spectrum, Nursing Management and Journal of Advanced Nursing.

2. I will use search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar and Web of Science to find relevant articles.

3. I will also ask my colleagues for any recommendations of good articles that they have found useful.

In my new role in health care, I will use several different strategies to review and critique literature pertinent to my practice.

I will read through all of the articles that are published in journals that are relevant to the type of work I will be doing. These include journals such as JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine, and other similar publications that focus on specific types of patients or illnesses.

I will also read through research that has been done about patients who suffer from similar conditions as those I will be serving. This can help me better understand how best to treat these patients, what types of treatments have worked for them in the past, and how effective those treatments were overall.

In addition to reading through research published in journals, I’ll have access to many more sources online including: PubMed Central (PMC), Google Scholar, Pubmed Health & Wellness Center (PHWC), Health News Review (HNR), National Library of Medicine (NLM), Cochrane Collaboration Clinical Evidence Reviews (CCER), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL).

I am going to use a variety of resources and tools to review and critique literature pertinent to my practice.

I will start by keeping up-to-date with the latest research that is published in journals, such as the Journal of Nursing or Nursing Practice. I will also be sure to read books written by experts in the field, such as Dr. Jean Watson’s book “Nursing: Concepts of Care” or Dr. Mary Ann Baenninger’s “Nursing Research: Methods, Critical Appraisal, and Utilization,” which are both required readings for this course.

I will also look at websites and blogs related to my field of interest. I will specifically look for information on how nurses can improve patient outcomes through evidence-based care.

Finally, I will take advantage of social media platforms like Twitter where professionals post updates about their research findings or professional development opportunities that might be helpful for me.

As a nurse, I have to review and critique the literature pertinent to my practice. This is important because it helps me to understand how other nurses have solved problems in the past, which will help me to solve problems in my own practice.

In order to do this effectively, I need to be able to critique the literature in a way that is relevant and applicable to my own work environment. I also need to be able to evaluate sources of information based on their quality and reliability. For example, if a source of information is written by an expert or has been peer-reviewed by other experts in the field, then it can be considered more reliable than if it was written by someone who is not an expert in the field but has simply done their own research into the topic at hand.

I also need to know how best present this information so that others can use it as well (e.g., through an article or presentation). In addition, I need to know how often new information becomes available on this topic so that I can update my knowledge base as needed

I will use my critical thinking skills to critique literature in my new role as a nurse practitioner.

I will read and research both the positive and negative aspects of different health care practices, and I will be sure to keep an open mind about what I read. As a nurse practitioner, I will be expected to make decisions that impact patients’ lives, so it is crucial that I approach everything with an unbiased attitude.

I also plan on reviewing studies that have already been conducted by other doctors, nurses, or healthcare professionals. This will help me understand how others have approached similar situations before me so that I don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time I need a solution for something new in my practice.

In my new role, I will use strategies including:

-The critical appraisal toolbox (CAT)

-Health care literature review (HLR)

-Systematic literature reviews (SLR)

-Evidence-based practice (EBP)

I will use the PubMed search engine to find articles that are pertinent to my practice. I will also look at the abstracts of these articles to determine if they are relevant for me. I will also use Google Scholar because it searches for scholarly journals and books.

I will use these sources to find data related to nursing, clinical practice, and/or any other topic relevant to my job as a nurse.
