Avoiding certain foods and drinks can help prevent constipation.  Some food items that are high in sugar and fat can lead to constipation.  Examples of these include candy, pastries and other desserts, fried foods like french fries or onion rings, chips and crackers, fast food burgers or sandwiches (especially with cheese), ice cream and sherbet, milk chocolate bars or hot cocoa mixes.

It is also important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep you hydrated and flush out any toxins that may be causing your constipation problem.

There are also some medications that can cause constipation as side effects. The most common medication linked to this problem is opiates such as codeine or morphine; however there are many more medications that can cause this side effect so it’s important that you talk with your doctor before starting any new medications in order to prevent any unwanted side effects from occurring!
